The word, Samurai, literally means “those who serve.” Service to others is the essence of teamwork in any organization. Team Samurai: The Art of Teamwork develops the skills and the mindset to create a team environment in which team members serve each other, rather than just themselves.
In the morning session, your team will gain the basics of how to meditate and how to use relaxation techniques as a tool for stress management and increased focus. In the afternoon, your team will explore various aspects of the martial arts as a way of better understanding themselves and the dynamics of the team.
In today’s high-volume, fast-paced work environments, managing stress is more important than ever. Meditation is the practice and process of being present and focusing your awareness. During this session, your team will learn the basics of meditation, including how to sit and breathe properly. They will also learn how to:
- Recharge and re-energize in just two minutes
- Handle distractions and interruptions during meditation and during the workday
- Find inner balance by controlling unwanted negative thoughts
- Transform workplace negativity into positive energy
- Focus one’s energy for maximum results
- Use relaxation techniques to prepare for and recover from difficult conversations, long meetings, and challenging responsibilities
In the afternoon of Team Samurai: The Art of Teamwork, participants will engage in a series of activities that relate martial art concepts and techniques to team practices. These exercises can be done by anyone in any physical condition. Don’t worry, there is no fighting and no uncomfortable physical contact… just principles that lead to greater awareness and positive results.
Throughout the afternoon, the vaious activities will relate to the key aspects of creating a positive and productive team environment. For example, after practicing a series of balancing techniques, the group will identify behaviors that take the team off balance. Or, after an introduction to pressure points, individuals will discuss and share those things that push their buttons. Through these martial arts concepts, the group will explore how they work together to achieve success.
Participants will learn:
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Awareness of the needs of others
- Focus and discipline
- Trust and respect
- Communication and feedback
- Motivation, commitment and determination
- Power, authority, and leadership
Our instructors have more than twenty years of experience in teaching meditation, the martial arts, and of course, team building.
