Team Building Activities in San Francisco, California
San Francisco is known as the City on the Bay, and instantly associated with the Golden Gate Bridge, rolling fog, Alcatraz Island, cable cars and steep streets. It’s also a fabulous location for team building events.
The Embarcadero, literally where one “embarks”, is the heart of old San Francisco. The nearby Ferry Building at the foot of Market St. is the terminal for ferries serving all parts of the San Francisco Bay. Its clock tower is captured in the iconic photograph of the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake. It’s the perfect setting for two of our treasure hunt style activities, ScavengerQuest and The Ultimate Race.
GeoQuest utilizes hand held GPS units to assist teams navigating between preset, hidden coordinates in the search for the answers to clue sheets they’ve been given. Strategy is key as teams compete to solve the questions and riddles before time runs out. CSI: On Location gives participants a chance to play crime scene investigator and help the SFPD fight a mini crime wave. The cases range from the mysterious to the whimsical, including discovering who besides Tony Bennett might have literally left their heart in San Francisco. Both activities kick off in Justin Herman Plaza between the Ferry Building and the Hyatt Regency, with easy access via BART, the California St. cable car line and MUNI buses and trolleys.
If your group would like to hold its team event away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, consider Golden Gate Park. The park has both indoor and outdoor team building activity options. ScavengerQuest: The High Tech Treasure Hunt course incorporates elements of the Japanese Teahouse, Music Concourse and Conservatory of Flowers. Teams search for clues with smart phones while getting chance to stretch their legs, enjoy the natural beauty of the park, and catch some beautiful views of the San Francisco skyline in the distance.
For some indoor team building options, head to the California Academy of Sciences, located just across from the De Young Museum. The academy can host two different activities: Intergalactic Adventure and ClueQuest. ClueQuest is a fun-filled treasure hunt that leads participants on a mad-cap race through the exhibits – the team with the highest score wins! Intergalactic Adventure is a highly engaging team simulation that pits your group against an evil alien species intent on destroying all life on Earth. Your team only has 20 days to stop them. Open collaboration, efficient use of resources and effective communication can literally mean the difference between life and death.
